YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!
As we all know, SHC wouldn't exist without a large number of volunteers who help in many different ways. It's often the case that the skills we develop in our working lives can be put to good use in an amateur club setting and best when we can draw upon the broadest range of experience and perspective. Please take a look at the roles we need to fill for the 2024/25 season and get in touch with me if you think you can help or know someone who you think might be ideal and may need a little encouragement!
Executive Committee Roles
Nominations are now open for the Honorary positions of President, Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. If you would like to nominate someone, please let me know. Voting will take place at the AGM on Monday 9th September. All club members will be invited.
Schools Outreach Coordinator
An opportunity to connect coaches with our local schools. We want as many local children as possible to have the opportunity to pick up a stick and play hockey. You simply have to have a bit of time to offer (probably 2-3 hours a week) and the ability to organize people and liaise with local school PE and Games staff.
Assistant Safeguarding Officer
Working alongside Hazel Claris to help keep all of us, but particularly our children and young people, safe. No experience necessary, Hazel will introduce you to all you need to know. Time commitment around 2 hours a week.
100 Club coordinator
Pauline Knott introduced this some years ago and it's a great way to raise hundreds of pounds a year for the club. All you need is the ability to persuade people to part with £5 a month - often best done in the bar on a Saturday!
Parents Exec Committee Representative
Many of us have children either currently playing at the club or who have played in the past. Whilst the Exec Committee has a number of people around the table with day-to-day experience of our junior section, there is definitely room for more representation and insight. All you need is to be the parent or guardian of a junior member of the club and the ability to gather views from others and share them once a month at Committee meetings.
If you think you might be able to contribute some of your experience and time to helping our club, or simply want to find out more, please don't hesitate to contact me.
